Grand Rapids Based, DVS, Launches Production
Company, Adds Jobs
DVS Creative founded to meet client demand
Grand Rapids, Mich. – November
4, 2009 – DVS, a local media duplication and asset management company, launches
new production company, DVS Creative, to meet customer demand.
“Production management services
have been an offering of DVS for many years, however, with the paramount growth
we recently experienced the only solution was to launch a separate division with
staff to focus on video production, editing, DVD & CD authoring, and video
encoding/compression,” says Mike Kren, DVS Creative manager.
With the creation of DVS Creative,
the division currently employs 5 full-time employees, with two new hires this
month. “Our production clientele has grown over 25% within the past year, and
in the next five years we project strong double digit employee growth,” says
Kren.
“What sets DVS Creative
apart is their technical knowledge, ability to always meet the deadline, and consistent
follow-up once a project is completed,” says Holly del Rosario, Global Brand Communications,
Amway Corporation.
DVS Creative specializes in
finding or creating solutions for difficult technical projects while
stimulating the audience visually to effectively communicate a client’s
message.
“What is perhaps the most
interesting about our growth is that DVS Creative was launched to meet client
demand versus forming and pursuing new business. We had the existing business
and needed to grow to meet demand,” says Kren.

About
Mike Kren:
The fact that Mike Kren is a movie buff comes in handy
working in the creative industry. Kren got his feet wet in management at National
Amusement, a chain of movie theaters, where he learned the ins and outs of
business while taking in the occasional flick.
When Kren was ready to move on, he was hired in at the DVS
division of Digital Services, Inc. as a Technician. Kren soon took on new
challenges as a Project Manager, and then Production Manager. Over the years,
DVS expanded into media and video production in response to customer demand. In
2008 a new division was created, DVS Creative. With the formation of DVS
Creative, Kren was promoted to the position of Creative Services Manager and
charged with growing this new division.

Here at DVS Creative we recently completed work on a complex DVD based training program for an international corporation. Looking to educate new and existing employees within their Latin America market, this corporation came to DVS Creative to solve a need that they knew was beyond the scope of many other vendors.
The DVD works in conjunction with an online course that was built simultaneously. Both the DVD and the online course consist of three different lessons and an assessment. The lessons cover everything from the introduction of the company, to selling tips and customer service scenarios. Within the lessons there are many different small quizzes, utilizing multiple choice, true/false and other learning techniques. When taking the assessment, users locally record their answers and use the SMS (text messaging) function of their cell phones to text the answers in.
Even though planning covered the better part of a year, actual development occurred in just a month and a half! Using the online course as a template, initial menus were created in English for reference and then translated to Spanish and Portuguese. Next came motion menu development, complete with audio and full interactivity. For the final step in the process, the disc was mastered and thoroughly tested by a team of eight test participants.
Different than most DVDs, this DVD contains no video, and is completely menu based. In total there are approximately 400 menus per language, with an average of 8 buttons per page. That’s roughly 6,400 buttons that needed to be authored and tested to make sure everything worked correctly.
Always up for a challenge, DVS Creative developed this unique use of two different types of media (DVD and SMS) to allow our client to reach an audience with no practical access to the internet. This is just one of several challenging DVD authoring projects that DVS has recently completed, with more on the horizon!
DVS Creative has a connection to the Orlando Magic? Indeed! DVS Creative has recently completed a project for Amway to be proudly displayed on the LED sign in the Amway Arena, home of the Orlando Magic. Working from an original concept, the DVS Creative Team went to work to create a banner advertisement for the huge LED sign at the Amway Arena.
DVS Creative is all about media. Whether the need is creation, duplication, managing media assets or fulfillment, we will work with you at any level to solve whatever media requirements you might have. Think you can stump us? Go ahead and try!

Each spot we’ve worked on has allowed us loads of creative freedom. We have been able to collectively generate ideas and mesh them with Citadel’s needs: quick turn, fixed budget, and a unique appearance for each finished spot. Part of the fun for us is finding a way to deliver an exciting message in as short as seven seconds.

DVS is proud to announce the launch of DVS Creative. DVS Creative is the newest division of Digital Services, Inc. and a sister company to DVS, the duplication service bureau that started it all in 1993. Over the years the creative side of DVS grew so much that we decided to let it borrow the car keys and go for a spin. See how fast it can go at: www.dvscreative.com
